WWE Icon Sid 'Vicious' Eudy Passes Away at Age 63
Sid Eudy, a six-time wrestling champion and WWE icon, passed away on Monday at the age of 63 after a prolonged battle with cancer, his family has announced.
Known to fans as Sid Justice, Sid Vicious, and Sycho Sid, Eudy gained fame in the 1990s as one of the most formidable and intimidating competitors in the industry, according to WWE.
His son, Gunnar Eudy, described him as “a man of strength, kindness, and love” who will be “greatly missed.” Gunnar expressed gratitude for the support received on Facebook, noting that the family “appreciates your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss,” and mentioned that details about a memorial service will be shared soon.
Born on December 16, 1960, in Arkansas, Eudy began his wrestling career with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1989, where he faced notable opponents such as The Four Horsemen and The Steiner Brothers.
WWE stated, “Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling superstars solidified his legacy in WWE, and his impact is still evident in wrestling rings worldwide.” The organization extended its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends, and fans.
Eudy made his WWE debut as Sid Justice, notably serving as the special guest referee at SummerSlam 1991 alongside WWE legend Hulk Hogan. His wrestling career included two WWE Championship wins (then WWF) and two WCW World Heavyweight Championship titles. WWE noted that Eudy's accomplishments would have continued if not for a "catastrophic in-ring leg injury" in 2001.
Tributes from fans and fellow wrestlers have been pouring in. Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T Huffman praised Eudy’s impact on wrestling, saying he “paved the way for so many of us.” Huffman added, “Without Sid Vicious, I don’t think my brother and I would have made it to WCW… My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
Eudy is survived by his wife, Sabrina Paige, and their two children.
